SOLD to a wonderful Jeep family in northern Ohio 4/5/22
(stated it was better than descirbed)
Available now is a Sherwood green 1982 Jeep Scrambler 6 Cylinder 4 speed in all original sheet metal and never any rot.
It has 97k original miles on it however the elderly gentleman who owned it was wise enough to recognize carburetors are a pain. He insisted on updating this to the easily swapped in 4.0 w multi port fuel injection. The swap was done with a Hot Wires kit. This is a direct bolt in with factory engine mounts and the same beelhousing with no adapters.
For those who don't know, when AMC was bought by Chrysler they kept the 4.2 6 Cylinder and evolved it until 2006. They scrapped the problematic AMC V8. I've had hundeds of 6 cylinders with very little trouble and even have one in my 06 LJ Rubicon with an intercooled turbo. I've had dozens of AMC V8s and about 50% of them caused me heartache.
This engine will start easier by every user at any temperature or altitude. It is more throttle responsive and will get better mileage.
The factory 4 speed manual transmission and Dana 300 work as they should. All gauges work including the OEM not Chinese fuel gauge w 6 digit odometer showing actual mileage. Note the very rare AM JEEP branded radio.
Uncracked nutmeg dashpads are hard to come by these days...
Drivers seat has minor wear showing. Original carpet is better than it should be.
Floors are unrestored original sheet metal. This Jeep would be an excellent candidate to color match line the interior in my opinion
All 5 original wheels with factory center caps and new tires installed by previous owner in modern day desireable stock size. Back in the day, everyone wanted big tires and a lift kit.
The paint color on this Jeep is one of my favorites and the same color of the 2nd Jeep I sold to Alan Jackson last year. Sherwood Green metallic. This is a driver quality paint job done awhile ago. The decals have minor peeling from heat and age. There were also small 1/8" holes drilled low on this Jeep for gosh knows what reason that the decals were applied over. You have to look for them but they are there. The best part about an old paint job is that any older body work would come back to haunt you. This has no signs of that.
The top on this Jeep was nicely done as they all fade with time. These have gotten pretty hard to come by.
The underside of this Jeep show signs of sitting with surface rust everywhere and no rot. I believe ths owner passed and it sat for awhile as family sorted things out. It would benifit from a good undercoating bath however I try not to do that at my shop so I can show more honest depictions of what something is or isn't. The frame on this is full thickness with no bad scale and certainly no rot.
I believe this to be a great driver quality Scrambler for someone wanting one with good bones that runs better than original. Thanks for reading and Merry Christmas. I hope you're able to enjoy family, relax and be thankful for all we have in this great country.
