From the scorched Earth known as Utah is this rot free 1985 Jeep CJ7 with a 258 6 cylinder and T5 manual transmission.
It's a pretty simple buy for the right person with the following explanation:
The body is not rotted. I can see all the spot welds as you should be able to see in a CJ.
It has a good running 258 that shows signs of being rebuilt but no documentation.
It has a Mopar Port Fuel Injection system that costs about $5000.00 to have installed. It starts, easier than stock, runs better, is more reliable, gets better fuel economy and has less emissions. Upgraded stamped valve cover and header. This 6 works as well as it can! Still has AC compressor installed if that's something you want down the road.
It has brand new top of the line $350 each reclining front seats with bolster and adjustable headrests.
Original tach and clock Jeep. All gauges work including the clock except the winder is gone. No cracks in the dash pad! Original console.
Improved steering and suspension. It has a professionally done shackle reverse. This isn't necesarry for a good handling Jeep but it helps. The physics people out there can try and explain this better but moving the pivot point to behind the steering lessens wander and bump steer. Clearly the previous owner loved their jeep and spent money to do things right. It has a 4" lift with new poly bushings that aren't cooked from the Mars like conditions in Utah. It has Bilstien shocks, braided stainless brake lines and a better than original limited slip unit in the rear differential....oh
yeah, and unrotted floors, frame etc.
(Front view driver's side)
(Rear view passenger side)
Comes as advertised above regarding tops and doors but I do have them available. Hardtop and hard doors are available for an additional $2k. A new soft top with 2 piece soft doors is only about $1k if you put it on yourself or $1400 if you want me to do it.
It has 32x11.50r15 BFG Tires on ond school USA made Centerline wheels that will shine endlessly with elbow grease. Great task for the kids to learn the vaule of a dollar?
Ok, why isn't this Jeep over $20k? Well, it isn't being sold by someone else. The pictures are real and the Jeep looks this good BUT it is a repaint due to being black and cooked in the 110 degree Utah sun...not from salty roads or Southern humidity. It is an inexpensive old repaint and is good for a driver. Old repaints are nice because they probably look better than the flat faded paint it was AND if there was body work, it will be showing by now. This Jeep is reasonably straight and has no piles of bodywork showing from rot repair. Where there is rust, it is only on the surface. The floors are original sheet metal and it did used to have the factory corner steps that bolt to the floor. The steps were surely removed as they are all but useless to step into and a horrible detriment to the body if the Jeep ever goes offroad. Those large factory holes were partially filled. The frame is waxable. Drive this as it's ready. Restore it if you want to as it's worth it. More real photos at different angles so you can decide if it fits you. It's a great Jeep built better than new and a very fair price.
Oh yeah, and it has power steering, power brakes, 20 gallon fuel tank, oem draw bar, working KC offroad lights and factory rear fold and tumble rear seat!
Thanks,
Rudy
