I have another rare gem in the shop...again. Again 2 fold as in yes, another clean low mileage Jeep and again as I have owned this before.
This is the last year of production 1986 Jeep CJ7 in black on black. It has only 44k original miles on it. Remember, 82 and newer CJs have 6 digit odometers. 81 and older are only 5 digit which is why you see so many Chinese restored catalog Jeeps listed as low mileage. It can't be proven as Carfax doesn't work that far back. For those who didn't know, most CJs had dealer installed radios.
Tis Jeep has never been rusty. It is all original metal.
It is unmodified as so many people seem to want these days. Right down to the stock plain steel wheels, suspension, CJ monogrammed seats, console, steering wheels, 2 post radio.
Seats are original and very nice.
I personally like all CJs, big, small, improved upon with EFI or old original carbs. I just hate rust.
Previously, this Jeep lasted one day being available on my websited before it was purchased a few years ago. Sadly, the gentleman passed before he was really able to enjoy it and i bought it back from the executor of the estate. I can see he put new tires on it and touched up the underside to look as new as possible. It really didn't need anything done. I think he was just trying to perfect it. The best Jeep CJs are healed, not restored. I can't tell someone this unless they have llived it as I have...over hundreds of CJs. The more you have to change, rebuild, buy new, the less nice it is, in my opinion. The shiniest, new looking CJs built from a catalog just don't do it for me.
There really isn't much to see on this. The engine runs as it should, it drives near new and has the strongest trandsmission of the era T176 4speed w Dana 300. I have the owners manual for it and all tops and doors are available for extra.
For all the world wide folks who reach out to me from time to time, I will send this CJ over seas but of course you will need to arrange your own transport.
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas,
Rudy and Ranger
