Rudy's personal favorite Jeep this year and maybe even for several years! I love the character of this paint and the tasteful reversable mods done to it. This is the kind of original paint the resto guys try and recreate to gain the elusive original "patina" ;) This Jeep is full of solid character, class and toughness.
As I photoed this Jeep I realized how uncommon and cool it is and I fell in love with it and and I've literally owned hundreds of CJs
If you ever wondered what a guy who does Jeep CJs for a living and a passion likes in his own Jeeps, well this is it. If you can't see it, that's ok.
It truly is a Rudy's Jeep thing. If you CAN see it, give me a call and we can talk about adoption into your garage ;)
Original Marchal fog lights. AGR Steering box. Borgeson steer shaft. Tomken steer box brace. Full stainless steel Borla exhaust. HD Shackles. Slickrock spring hangers. Rancho 4" Suspension lift. Did I mention the Marchal foglights work and have the original illuminated dash switch?
Original straight chrome front bumper, chrome mirrors, grill overlay all in much better than expected condition. JEEP frame cover.
Really nice original Laredo seating.
Very good original Leather steering wheel
Original uncut dash with 2 post radio (probably dealer installed original and nice original leather grab bar) Original center console and original owners manual pack...
Fold and tumble rear seat. Padded roll bar. All nice and original
Nice carpet as well. ...and I hate carpet in a CJ. It is truly the devil as it holds moisture. These floors have sandable rust where there is anything but they would look new if it wasn't for the carpet!
Ok, So it's a big bad Jeep but it hasn't always been and it hasn't been trail abused. Proof? Check out these next pictures... No wing window crack on either side?! Not sure I've ever had a CJ without at least one door having the crack... Oh yeah, and nice Laredo door panels too...
HD rear tire carrier w receiver and a very nice orginal hardtop with factory tint that may have never been off the Jeep....
This is the kind of Jeep I get a call for just about every other day... An original Laredo that is driveable, original nice interior, no rot, auto, and not priced out of this world. Buy it now or regret it later.
1985 Jeep CJ7 Laredo in original black paint with only 100,877 original miles.
Why is original paint important? It's important because the Jeep has no secrets. It has no hidden dents. It has no hidden rust. It is honest. When you take it to a painter they can tell you EXACTLY how much the work will cost. If you take a body guy something that has been painted before they have to sand through the layers to find the dents, rust etc. They can't give you an honest cost because they just don't know what is being hidden.
PLEASE don't buy the shiny paint Jeep for premium money without really getting into it and knowing what to look for and even then the best of us still get taken. Shiny paint is often fools gold when it comes to these old Jeeps since they rusted so bad and easily.
ALL this said, this paint on this Jeep is cooked and it won't polish up so it isn't shiny but it IS the kind of Jeep I look for because it is only a paint job away from being premium.
The way it sits it has the patina look that is so popular to try and recreate today and it is priced accordingly.
With new paint, decals and little things this is a $20,000 Jeep.
You MUST take pictures of this body before it is painted to prove how nice it is and protect your investment.
Ok...back to the Jeep
It is the desireable 6 cylinder and sought after factory Automatic.
It has the factory hardtop with tinted windows and hard doors with Laredo door panels.
It also has the original Laredo seats in very good condition.
Uncracked dash pad.

Clock (works but missing adjuster knob)
Tilt steering
Power brakes
Premium AGR steering box and bracket (Cost at about $500)
Widetrac differentials
20 gallon fuel tank
Header added with Borla exhaust.
Offy intake and small Holley 4bbl with K&N air filter to replace flawed orginal problematic BBD
High powered MSD Offroad ignition system to replace weak factory set up
Uncut dash with 2 post radio
Nice carpet.
Working Marchal fog lights and factory switch.
Original chrome front bumper
Original paint. Zero bubbling rust. Original decals.
VERY straight body.
Super cool mods by the ower (all reversable by Rudy)
Heavy Duty swing out tire carrier (Cost about $700)

Borla Stainless Exhaust
Very Good 33" tires on forged aluminum rims (Cost near $1500)
4.10 gears to replace the doggish factory 2.72 ones
Street friendly lockers front and rear.
Moser one piece axle upgrade in the rear
Super cool WARN Lockout upgrade for the front differential to use the larger and better Warn hubs.
About $4000 in drivetrain upgrades
Enjoy the patina or paint it and add new decals but you can't lose with this CJ.
Price may be negotiable up or down based on how you want this Jeep and if we can pry it from my fingers! With or without new paint, hardtop, differentials, lift kit etc. We would love to keep the doors, hard top, differentials, etc etc. What seems like a big deal to some...like lift kits and differentials is about a days worth of work to us.
OHHH, why did they lift it and put big tires?!?!? One day of work for us to reverse back to stock. Yeah, we have Laredo wheels....but we'd also love to sell it as it sits as we have plenty to do.
Thanks for reading and seeing what I personally like!
