This is an unrestored 85 Jeep CJ7 just in from San Antonio Texas. It has the desireable 20 gallon fuel tank, tilt column and working tach! Both seats flip forward). Power steering and brakes. Intermittent wipers and working factory tach. Clock is not working but fuel gauge and temp are working as they should.
SPOT WELDS SHOWING! :)
Frame is still black, floors are beautiful unrotted and have original paint on them as shown. For this price you get a Jeep with NO FRAME ROT AND GORGEOUS FLOORS. This is SOOOO far ahead of anything from the Midwest, South or East with shiny paint and bondo or unsafe, electrically problematic fiberglass replacement bodies sitting on patched up frames.
It has the 6 cylinder and automatic transmission so everyone in the family can use it. It has a new carb on it and the Jeep doesn't knock or smoke. 177k miles on the Jeep. The engine doesn't sound like it has as many miles on it as the Jeep shows.
Very dry and not a leaker!
Tires are matching 31 x 10.50's on very nice wheels
Overall this Jeep is FAR FAR FAR cleaner than any midwestern Jeep. It shows signs of both original paint and places where it has been repainted but there is no bubbling rust on the sides. There are very repairable and understandable dents on the after 26 years of use. There is one spot of rust peeking under the roll bar in the wheel well on the passenger side. It is an easy spot to fix and very common as AMC didn't paint that metal from the factory. They primed the bodies and then put the roll bars in and THEN painted the Jeeps. It is easy to fix because it can't be seen on the topside and the backside needs seam sealer just as the factory did.
It will come with Garnet seats and a bikini top and I do have other options available for additional money. Hard top, Hard doors and soft tops and soft doors.
It has an orignal AMC Jeep windshield frame which replaced the one that came with it but it does need painted to match. I can have that done for you for $350 if you'd like
This Jeep is light years ahead of anything in the Midwest and worthy of restoration or drive it!
Act quick! The lesser expensive ones don't last!
* HOW TO TURN AN AUTO JEEP INTO A MANUAL ONE:
I can turn this into a manual with a used 4 speed for $750 (most of that is labor). You would never know it was an auto by the time I was done with it.
You can do this for free if you buy a parts Jeep and do it yourself as people want the Auto trans and pedals etc.
The parts that need acquired / swapped are as follows: Flywheel, clutch kit, bellhousing, linkage, driveshafts, tunnel cover, hanging pedal assy. You don't have to change the column as you can simply remove the auto lever and indicator. I do NOT have nother manual tilt column but do have a non tilt one.
I would be keeping all the swapped parts if I do it. If you do it, you can resell all these items
However, I ask you to consider leaving it an AUTO as many families need to have everyone able to drive the vehicle and it is an asset when it comes to selling as only about one out of 5 CJs is an auto. The Auto trans used in the CJs is very good. It is a 999 Torqueflight based on the legendary 727!
