Up for pre-sale is a Last year of production, top of the line 1986 Jeep CJ7 Laredo. It is rot free from the desert Southwest of New Mexico in original paint. It was one of the last ones made as it has the desired Dana 44 rear differential and has a Trac Loc as an added bonus.
It has a 6 cylinder and best of the era 4 speed T176 that shifts correctly and the clutch feels right. It starts easily and idles well.
The Jeep still has the original Marchal fog lights and working dash switch. It also has the original chrome front bumper, rear chrome bumperettes, Leather steering wheel, Leather Grab Bar, Uncracked dash pad, Un Cut dash and even cruise control although it isn't working. Fuel and temperature gauges are working as is the clock! Oil pressure and tach are not working but the easiest of all the gauges to repair. The Jeep has surface rust on the front floor pans but much of the rest of the floor is still shiny white paint. The seats are original but the fronts have been recovered in non-original Laredo material. The rear is a fold and tumble.
The frame is still original black and the underside is as clean as many of the other super nice CJs you've seen me sell here. The paint is 25 years old and worn through in spots but has no secrets (like bondo over holes or patches, etc). The only obvious body damage is the passenger rear corner which is certainly fixable and by no means substantial enough to have even come close to causing frame damage. The front fenders are covered with a bra as shown below. The exhaust is going bad but is less than $200 from 4wd.com. The windshield glass has numerous chips but I can have it replaced with a new gasket for $200. The frame is good!
The Jeep is on the presale lot as I have had several people contact me awaiting its arrival. It hasn't been washed etc and I would prefer to only sell it to someone who can come look at it and evaluate it for themselves. I have not spent much time with it at this point which is why it is on the pre-sale lot. It is simply an unrestored rot free largely original old rot free CJ7 Laredo in original paint!
Degreased, cleaned and partially stripped for paint 5/3/11
