Available now is a 35k original mile, clean original steel body 1984 Jeep CJ7 in a very stock form.
This Jeep is far better than a Frame off all new Jeep I hear people tell me about...because those jeeps are laregly Chinese and NEEDED rebuilt because they were rotten to the core. They are only original once.
This Jeep is not restored!! It came from estate sale sometime before I took ownership. This is largley just a stock, clean original CJ. The only real mod on it is cruise control that almost works. I will not work on it but if you want it, I bet it can be made to operate. I will however remove it if sopmeone does not wan it.
The reason for the affordable price is that it only has 2/3 of a 6 cylinder. Fancy way of saying it has the AMC 150 aka 2.5L which is somewhat a 4.2 engine minus the center 2.
This makes the Jeep less expensive but not that much more anemic in power as all the 4 cylinder Jeeps got better gears. This one was 3.54 gears whereas all the 6 cyliinder widetrac CJs got 2.72 or 3.31. The lower the gear number, the less mechaical advantage to take off from a stop. It is also complimented by factory stock small tires.
Many people do not realize that the bigger the tire, the less power the Jeep has unless you do an expensive gear swap. Small tire Jeeps also stop and steer better.
I do have lotos of cool documentaton for this Jeep including the original window sticker! ( I will get a photo of it up)
The reason for the variable price is the opportunity to buy it without top or doors...each item removed is a $2k deduction as I sell tops and doors nationally and that is what these are worth to me.
This Jeep was almost a budget stocker but the addition of the hard top, hard doors and very important power steering make it nicer than the cheapest one you could get.
It is a T4 four speed manual transmission. Many see a hydraulic clutch as a benifit which is what all the 4 cylinder models got. It does make for a softer clutch if you have a bad knee.
The paint on this Jeep is very nice with few signs of touch ups or flaws. Far less than it should have for being 35 years old. It does not have any bubbling rot! Spot welds are evident as they should be.
Nice original floors, seats and gauges w factory radio delete plate. Of course everything works.
Floors are original with no rot. They were coated by a previous owner with something less invasive nor as thick as a Linex. The underside is way cleaner than it should be for a 35 year old vehicle but complimentary to the miles.
It has 5 new stock size tires on the original wheels. I was given another set of tires with it that the previous owner thought were the originals. They may have been but I didn't think they were dry cracked enough.
So there it is. Call and ask questions if you have them. Thsi is a really need value priced clean original CJ7
