The metal is the most important part of any CJ. Aftermarket fenders and especially tubs, windshield frames and grills are just junk. If you see diamond tread on the sides, walk away. If the carpet is glued down and the underside looks like tar from a flat roof, do the same. Look at the bottom of this Jeep in my photos. No rot. No flaky rust.
This original Laredo is all original rot free metal from Utah. The frame is still black from the factory 40 years ago. It has never had rot or rust repair done.
This is a bargain Laredo for the person I'm always hearing from that wants to drive their Jeep and not worry about it. If you only want a clean Jeep and can live without the collectible things. I will sell this Jeep for as little as $22000 if you read on.
The paint is a respectable respray to the factory rare burgundy years ago. It has been used and shows but no rot anywhere.
The simple Howell EFI fuel injection is tried and true and makes this run better than new. The HEI distributor and simplified wiring makes it start better than new. The stamped JEEP valve cover costs more than the crappy one that has an Asian Omix symbol on it no one wants to see and will help with leaks.
The 258 engine and t5 transmission work as they should with power brakes and power steering. It drives properly.
The original very rare seats are better than they should be for being 40 years old and have a lot of value. I will reduce the cost of this Jeep by $2500 if you don't want them and will give you aftermarket seats I have in my 40' high cube container full.
The console is better than original and made in USA by Tuffy.
All the gauges and original clock and tach work. Tilt steering column. Radio does not work and is just there to fill the space. The leather steering wheel is oem and rare. On topic, I would replace the clock and steering wheel w aftermarket for a reduction of $1000.
The tires are near full tread BFG AT 31x10.50. Older but near new tread (all 5). The wheels are oem 40 year old chrome w center caps. I will reduce the cost of this Jeep by $2000 if you don't want the wheels and I'll give you some aftermarket ones I have.
The hard doors are quite nice with OEM door panels. Most my customers don't want hard doors for their Summer toy and this Hard top and door combo is worth a $2000 reduction if you want this CJ topless. The hardtop is better than most but from Rudy quality standards it is just ok. The hatch is good (most are rusted junk) but the top itself has chips and nics. It will keep you dry and does work and is original. It would be nice to take off and not have to worry about.
Personally, I'd take the Jeep the way it is but some people just want a nice Jeep and this is in fact that. It is uncommonly nice and nearly impossible to find an all original metal rot free Jeep Cj7 Laredo. Many people buy a 'deal" Laredo without these things thinking they will find them, and good luck with that. They just aren't available to be found. One of my competitors is selling horn buttons like this has for nearly $1000.
Drive this Jeep and enjoy it. Keep it out of the salt and have an investment. Always feel free to call.
Thank you!
