1983 Black always rot Free Jeep CJ7 Laredo
The one on the left...and then all the other photos. I wanted to list 2 black Laredos together but the other sold to a caller before I could finish and post both. I thought it would be neat to list an auto and a 5 speed, one lifted and unlifted for comparison sake.
I sort of ruined this Jeep. It was beautiful in original paint w some tasteful fading w no rot that I personally love. I've had hundreds of clean CJs and shiny paint doesn't make me happy (Ck out my patina collection). Experience tells me that patina is not for most my customers so off to my body shop it went for a simple respray. Simple because it required no rot repair. People always tell me how nice my Jeeps are. I start with great Jeeps and great metal instead fo buying deals that need everything replaced. Most of the floor is original paint as shown. I had the front floors resprayed from paint being rubbed thin...because its a floor. You can see underneath there was no welding or funny business and no recent undercoating and it now looks like new. The dash and engine bay are original paint as well and look very respectable.
This was originally a Texas Jeep that went to AZ which is where I got it. No salt. No rot. Original Texas sales invoice shown in pics and included along with original manuals etc. Many service receipts also included from Arizona as well
Premium Phoenix decals installed and put on right next to one of my other Laredos in original paint so I knew they'd be in the right place
Odometer shows 95k w clean Carfax in Photos. Mileage is less than shown due to a bad fuel gauge issue along the way but it cannot be documented however the condition of the seats tells that tale as they are not torn or recovered originals.
OEM Laredo Interior in very nice 40 year old condition. OEM console Uncommon oem Jeep 2 post AM/FM Cassette w auto reverse. Since this came from Texas I'm thinking Garth Brooks No fences or maybe something better like Chris Ledeux looping endlessly back in the day. That said, it's a looking at radio and even has the original tired speakers behind the dash.
It has a very good running 258 engine w upgraded EFI and ignition.
Details about the engine: Simple tried and true Howell fuel injection kit for ease of use and more reliability. This CJ is better than when new...by far as the 1983 technology of a computer controlled carb was an epic fail as the world transitioned from simple working carburetors to fuel injection. The middle ground of computer controlled carbs was a low point in aspiration evolution.
The ignition on this CJ has been upgraded with the most expensive DUI brand HEI distributor that produces about 50% more spark. It simplified the entire machine with a vast reduction in wires and components to fail.
It is a factory automatic so everyone in the family can drive it or if you have bad knees or just prefer it. That said...
OPTION FOR THE BUYER:
For a fee, I can convert this to a manual transmission with all oem parts in such a way you couldn't tell it didn't come that way. No cutting, wire splicing etc.
Factory options: It has tilt steering, tach, clock, power steering, power brakes, Trac Loc rear differential, 20 gallon oversize factory tank and all the original rare Laredo things the Chinese don't make...like wheels, chrome front bumper and rear bumperettes, rocker trim, steering wheel, console, seats and more. Even the steps OEM and not the crappy Key brand part knock offs recently being imported.
Of course everything works...lights, oem gauges, even the AC (for now). It is very original and won't go forever but it does have a more modern refrigerant.
This Jeep has a small best practice bolt on lift kit to accommodate the beefier than stock tires. Its riding on near new 33x12.50 r15 BFG ATs on VERY nice oem wheels. This lift has wider front springs than original for more stability and better spring hangers than the factory used.
For what it's worth, lifting a CJ is NOT MOLESTING it. CJ lift kits bolt on and therefore also unbolt! If you love everything about this beautiful Laredo but wish it was stock, don't fret. For free, I will happily put stock springs and shocks under this w 5 new tires of your choice and keep all these goodies for myself. This will take less than a day working by myself and you would never know anything transpired except it will have new bushings.
This Jeep comes as shown but all tops and doors are available.
Overall I feel this is a very nice driver quality CJ that most people would be very proud to own.
Please call for any questions or to just make this one yours. I know I have a lot of nice Jeeps but trust me, they are getting harder and harder to find.
Thank you!
Rudy
