What makes it special? The desert photos are the rot free BEFORE pics AND it has 27k original miles AND it is a ast half year of production w the desirable Dana 44 rear differential.
Why did I take it all apart? People often kindly tell me how good of work I do. I hope I say thank you first and then I should say, "I start with nice things". My exerience has taught me that if you start w junk or a deal, you work harder than if you started with something good, you often spend more and end up with something of less value.
Again...why did I take it apart?
This was an expensive Jeep to purchase in its original condition and was nice....but, it leaked, and had scratches and scuffs and dry rubber everywhere from 38 years of existence. I now have almost 55 years of existence and am starting to need a rebuild myself.
ANYHOW, after some deliberation I decided I'd turn out something special to stand out from a market full of low end to middle of the road CJs and this CJ7 had the right ingredients.
Also, I decided I wanted to challenge myself and gain some efficiencies and build two of these at once....I have a very nice 85 CJ7 Black Laredo that will be done at the same time. It will have its own page for sale shortly.
This is a very sought after color that everyone always likes.
It is the last half year of production of the CJ7 and therefore has the factory Dana 44 rear differential.
It had ZERO rot on any of the metal.
Only 27k Original Miles.
Unique original nice honey interior color.
Best manual transmission of the era (T176).
All sheet metal blasted and recoated. Frame, suspension, brackets, etc blasted and recoated. Engine resealed. Dry rubber replaced (Including clutch as it was also dry). New heater core and radiator from time and old coolant. Check out the pics. The tub photos are in bare sandblasted metal before primer. This wasn't a rotted pile full of sub par Asian replacement metal or diamond tread.
Sometimes I hear from people who want to build or are building a "new" cj. The idea sounds novel. The actuality of it is not good. There are almost no new American made Jeep CJ parts.
A 'new' CJ today is made from boxes that say "Made in China, Philippines" etc. I can't enjoy an American icon made in Asia and the quality won't be there no matter who bolts it together.
This Jeep was healed w very few new parts do to its quality bones, low miles and favorable climate.
I improved its drivability by using my experience to minimize the antiquated 80s underhood anti-technology. It has a better valve cover, ignition and factory style carb. It will start easier and run better than when new in 1986.
This is an heirloom CJ I intend to have done about the end of March 2024. Call today to discuss pricing and details to finish it. I have other oem seats if you want to go a different color, lift it, change wheels, bumpers etc. Heck, I can even decal it as a Renegade if you want. Remember, Renegades are only stickers, steering wheel and rocker trim. Make it yours and have it well before this Summer.
This quality American made, healed and manufactured Jeep CJ7 meant to be enjoyed however you want it.
Boring stock or modded to the hilt,
I just loathe rust. Rudy
