1985 Black always rot Free Jeep CJ7 Laredo...
Short description: Always Rot Free California CJ7 Laredo. It had a bad crate engine in it and just poor assembly practices I didn't want my name on so the following was done...
Disassembled and all sheet metal blasted and repainted & reassembled by me a Jeep CJ tenured sole proprietor. Pro Rebuilt 258. Pro Rebuilt T5 Transmission. New Clutch, Radiator, Master Cylinder, Heater Core, 31x10.50R15 BFG Tires. New Rubber bushings and lines Everywhere.
Long Description: I took it apart and had all the sheet metal blasted and professionally recoated.
Look at the photos of the bare metal as shown. This was never a rotted pile of crusty rot. Painted floors are really useless for anything but looking at. The pro installed floor liner is how these should have come from the factory. It suffocates the metal from oxygen to inhibit corrosion AND you can put your feet on it without scratching it. You can see the underside of this Jeep that it isn't patched. It is as shiny as the top without undercoating hiding all the sins because it didn't have any rot.
Premium Phoenix decals installed and put on right next to my 85 in original paint so I knew they'd be in the right place
This is a quality foundation for your investment and not a worthless Philippine body on a flaky patched frame.
Note, the picture of the frame is original paint from 1985 and not touched up.
I had local pro engine builders rebuild the engine 100%. Bored, new cam, head done etc. New oem style USA made tailpipe and muffler. It has a free flowing catalytic converter on it which helps keep the old car smells out of an open air vehicle. You'll notice the serpentine belt system which was common for favorable climate West coast Jeeps.
It has a newly rebuilt T5 overdrive transmission from one of my local transmission shops. All new brass, bearings and seals. New clutch.
While apart, all new rubber in the suspension, chassis etc.
New radiator and heater core because 40 year old copper is corroding and failing.
I've added a simple tried and true Howell fuel injection kit for ease of use and more reliability. This CJ is better than when new...by far as the 1985 technology of a computer controlled carb was an epic fail as the world transitioned from simple working carburetors to fuel injection. The middle ground of computer controlled carbs was a low point in aspiration evolution.
This engine also has a JEEP logo cast aluminum valve cover in place of the oem flawed plastic version that it came with. The plastic valvle cover was another mistake. It leaked...badly and often caused engine fires.
The ignition on this CJ has been upgraded with an HEI distributor that produces about 50% more spark. It simplified the entire machine with a vast reduction in wires and components to fail.
5 New 31" BFG AT Tires on OEM 15x7 Chrome Wheels w center caps
OEM Laredo Interior. Your choice nice condition but useless OEM console that you can't lean on, isn't secure and will break if you sneeze on it...or Premium USA lockable Tuffy consle (both shown in pictures and neither bolted down).
OEM leather wrapped Laredo Steering wheel on OEM tilt column w original horn button. These steering wheels and buttons are beyond $1k alone as a part sale. The Chinese don't make everything.
OEM Laredo grab bar
All original gauges and not cheap Chinese knockoffs most places are using...because they don't have what I have in my inventory. Of course they all work.
OEM Chrome bumperettes, grill overlay and front bumper.
I wanted to challenge myself and build two CJs at once. Ck out my 86 also listed (It sold for $50k in a few days).
This is an original USA made Jeep CJ7 with original metal.
Boring stock or modded to the hilt,
I just loathe rust. Rudy
